Uslada (known as Foxi Von Riga until 2019) brings the richness of her ancestral Slavic origins and the depth of her intuitive gifts to create her exuberant, phantasmagorical paintings. Born to an ethnically Russian-Ukrainian-Polish family in Latvia, Uslada spent her student years in the USA and Spain. She now lives in Belgium where she creates her art in a picturesque town near Brussels. Uslada’s artistic style is a truly unique blend of color, texture and intricate shapes which portray the magnificence of the Universe, and the beauty of all of us in it. Her other artistic medium is poems. Belgian philosopher and art writer Marcel Paquet, who knew and wrote about Magritte, Botero, Calder and Mirò, dedicated one of his last essay’s to Uslada’s art. Uslada’s art is spiritual alchemy. It’s created in the state of meditative flow, when the artist is fully connected to her Muse, tapping into the powerful energies of the Universe and channeling them into her art. The key themes of Uslada’s work are sovereignty, self-empowerment and embracing life in all its splendor. Replete with flamboyant, Earth-inspired symbolism, Uslada’s art is full of motifs drawn from nature - fish, flowers, oceans, and birds - which allude to our human nature. They express all that holds us back from being free, or sets us free, ready to surf the waves of life without resisting its force. Uslada believes that it is only by accepting the sacredness, wisdom and consciousness of nature that we will accept our own sacred place within it. It is only when we fully embrace our human nature, and accept who we truly are, that we will be able to treat our Planet and approach life with deep respect and reverence. Uslada’s Art Manifesto can be found here: “Every form dissimulates the endless movement of the forces which compose it; Uslada brings these forces to light, and gives visual expression to their vibrations, their dancing, whirling intricacy.” Marcel Paquet, Belgian philosopher and art writer.
