Forever Changed Painting

This work is about emotion; from the smokey, swirling intricacy of the paint to the more obvious woman's face who's mouth is open in ecstasy or anguish. Her skin tone is deliberately muted, almost corpse-like, and her mouth caught in mid-movement, The abstract part expresses something ephemeral, fleeting, yet confused. There is joy and pain in this work, the bright turquoise, the the ripples and movement. My father died months before this was painted and I believe that played a part in its creation, certainly in the title. I admire the work of Glen Brown (among others), he has been an influence on the way in which I use paint.
