ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Acrylic, sand and cotton thread on a 100x100cm linen canvas. Framed in oak. In her work, Marie is inspired by trees to create. It is for her an infinite source of inspiration that allows her to create her shapes, colors and textures. In this series of complicit forms, the artist draws inspiration from the bond of solidarity, even fraternity that unites trees of the same species. Although she has a specific inspiration, Marie seeks above all to work on a harmonious and balanced composition in which geometry blends with a certain form of poetry.

Marie is a self-taught abstract artist, born in 1989, who lives and works in Don, in the countryside of Lille. Creative since childhood, she first studied art design in Paris, then computer graphics, communication and marketing in Lille. After having exercised various trades, it is finally in 2019 that she decides to return to her first love, painting. Today, Marie is an artist at full-time. In her work, she mixes geometry with a certain form of poetry by creating stories about the invisible or the ephemeral. Mainly inspired by nature, especially trees, and the things that surround her, she makes many sketches which she then works on canvas, wood or paper. Although she has a specific inspiration for each work, she seeks above all to create harmonious and balanced compositions, free of interpretation. Her favorite medium is acrylic paint, to which she gives volume by exploring ways such as collage, sand or different embroidered thread. It brings his work to life, where the light expresses itself best. On canvas, Marie works minimalist and organic works using natural materials. On paper, on the other hand, she likes to work on more complex compositions using texture delicate paper to create collages and grids. She sometimes spends whole hours to draw lines that she feels so peaceful and out of time during this process. "When I create a work, I always hope that it will provide the viewer with the same feeling of well-being that I feel when I work. Geometric shapes have the ability to calm me down and reassure me and that's exactly what I want to express through my abstract compositions. »
