About The Artwork

In Vedic mythology the Fish is believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu - the Supreme God of Hinduism. The four fishes in this piece symbolise the four arms of Vishnu and the blue colour of the water is representative of His skin colour. This piece is inspired by Mithila Art, which is one of the oldest forms of tribal art practiced in parts of India and Nepal. This piece has been created using Eucalyptus twigs, matchsticks and brushes. Oil on paper.

A painter, sketch artist and illustrator specialising in tribal art, prints and textile designs. I'm passionate about intricate and highly detailed artwork. Medium of choice: acrylic, oil and pencils. A lot of my tribal art-inspired artworks are made using twigs, straws and dry stems instead of brushes. Finding the right type of twig or stem makes the journey of creation of a new artwork ever so exciting for me. Contact: pokobynikki@gmail.com
