Born in Montréal in 1952. Early in her life, she was introduced to visual arts by her father, who was an architect, and during her entire childhood, she attended the Montreal School of Fine Arts. Throughout her life, she entertained a passion for the world of arts, and her curiosity led her to explore numerous forms of expression, such as weaving, ceramics and sculpture, drawing and painting, dance, theatre and circus arts. In 1999, after a career in advertizing, she decides to engage in painting. Today she is fully dedicated to her art and spends all of her time in her studio. The body and the human face immediately became the main subject of her attention and of her research, in reason of the strong emotions and mystery they inspire to her. Her creative process aims at sharing these emotions. The vigorous and rough strokes which can be seen of some of her works reflect the vibrant attitude which she manifests while facing the canvass. She typically enjoys playing with textures and patterns, from which will emerge amazing bodies and faces, yet anatomically accurate. This mix of figurative and abstract genres translates into a very personal style and graphic language. More recently she has been exploring the subject of trees. She likes to say that trees remind her of human bodies and she paints them the way she paints portraits, trying to show their uniqueness and personality, their strength and mystery as well as their fragility. She uses acrylic, charcoal crayons, pigments and pastel (mixed media) on canvass. She will often put brushes or palette knife aside and pursue her piece with sponges or other tools. She sometimes transfers to the canvass other creative material she produces herself such as photography and sketch, mixing this approach with traditional painting techniques, in order to bring her work into new territories. Her strong need for being in touch with raw materials will bring her from time to time to modeling with argyle, this three-dimensional exercise allowing her to improve her knowledge of the human face and body. She studied namely with Jacques Clément, Sophie Jodoin, Olivier Longpré, and Jean-Louis-Émond at Saydie Bronfman School of Fine Arts in Montreal. She attends live models workshops on a regular basis and is an avid reader of books on human anatomy. Over recent years, her works have been purchased by Canadian private collectors and institutions, and by American, European and South American collectors.
