French Countryside at Twilight Painting

This painting was painted in with oil paint using only painting knives in an impressionistic style using small heavily textured strokes. The style is meant to honor emotion rather than define the subjects. It is meant to evoke a serene feeling and the need to stop and stare at my favorite time of day -- twilight. Twilight is a beautiful transitional period when the moon is visible, the sky is neither dark nor light and the clouds are pink, white, grey, blue and purple. There are different points of interest that interact with the twilight sky like the lake that reflects the sky and the trees that are dark green in the distance and even darker behind the bridge. The dirt is darker than it would be earlier in the day and has a pink and blue undertone and compliments the lake as a shore rather than a grassy land in front of the trees.
