This painting is part of the MODERN PRIMITIVES series developed through 2018 and 2019. The constant preoccupation with the representation of femininity is based on my intention to reveal fundamental aspects of human experience, with the aim of deepening the way in which the complementary opposites of the ontological doublet, feminine - masculine, interact. Over time and history, gender relations have shaped the existence of women and men, thus influencing artistic creation. These concepts have often been problematic for our society, as cultural differences between male and female types often reflect contrasting values. The visual sources that frequently form the basis of the works are inspired by the practice of social nudity, known as nudism or naturism. Freedom from many constraints and taboos of civilization is achieved by placing my characters in an indefinite space or in a natural setting (beaches, forests, swimming pools). These images are put together from fragments that come from online sources, cutouts from magazines, or from my personal photo archive and have the role of an intermediate tool between reality and painting. Also, the technique used aims to obtain a monotype effect, characterized by the expressiveness of contours and colored brushstrokes. Through vivid chromatics and the spontaneous appearance of forms, the works create a connection between colors and what is in the external form of a body, seeking to reveal the inner emotional truth of people and their experiences. The rendering of the pure, vivid colors and the simplified shapes, the gestural fluidity, and the compositions remind the viewer of neo-expressionism. The latent eroticism of these images is highlighted by an almost monochrome but dynamic background in which cerulean blue, purple, and green are the dominant colors that transmit the chromatic brilliance of nature. At the same time, the attributes of femininity - mouth, cheeks - attract the viewer with their bright red. Moreover, the roundness of the female body - the hips, breasts, and abdomen - should be the focal point of these images, alluding to a positive desire for regeneration and renewal (curves generally tend to embody femininity). Thus, liberated from the urban crowd, the women and men who populate my paintings live their lives as modern primitives.
