About The Artwork

I painted this watercolor on site in Jerusalem, Israel. After a long walk outside the old city walls, the afternoon light was golden, and I arrived at the ancient olive garden of Gethsemane just outside the Old City. It is a happy painting, very colorful and bright. The underlying initial pencil sketch is still visible below the watercolors. I painted it in the quick style of the impressionist painters, a visual sketchbook memory of sorts — if you have been to this beautiful ancient place full of history, legend and myth, you will be able to feel, see and even smell what this magical place is like, full of good energy and beauty! The artwork is signed and dated on the back. Painted on 'Stillman & Birn' cold press ivory 270g premium heavy paper.
