About The Artwork
Gavins Point Dam is the second painting in my theme: Intersection of Engineering and Art where perspective is dominant. The art comes in where the massive wave of water is releasing energy from the water as it falls from the lake level to the river level. The painting was begun on site early in the morning when the light crossed the piers of the dam at an angle which produced dramatic shadows, especially against the whitewater from the spillway.
