Gemini Painting

“Gemini” consists of two diamond-shaped companion paintings each measuring 88 (H) x 51 (W) centimeters. Gold, silver, copper, graphite, and a dusty metallic blue appear to flow over a black background. The paint has been thinned with water so the colors stream together create interesting and surprising results. Although the work is abstract, the artist sees floral, organic shapes in the painting. These paintings can be hung separately, such as over a mantel piece, or hung together side by side. “Gemini” is part of the artist’s “Im-Material” series, which reflects on material and immaterial wealth. The sides of the paintings have been painted, and with all of Robin Ballard's paintings they are easy to hang.
