A viewer of the paintings by Veronika Spleiss once has said: "It reminds me of a tidy chaos". He meant the interaction of order and chaos. The black acrylic paint surrounds the artwork to the edges and gives the painting something immersing and deep. Out of the black paint, forms of white, gold and bright colours come to the surface and bring the deepness to substance. So the two-dimensionality enables a sharper focus and reveals structures which seemed to be gone. Therefore the chaotic elements of her works are not that taken by chaos as it might seem for the viewer. Indeed the first glimpse on the painting is an overwhelming celebration of forms and colours and its single common feature is the black edging of the paintings. But the second glimpse, out of the white and colourful fragments, discloses associative forms of the reality and on the meta level their tales. "Gepflasterte Steine" belongs to the series "Der schwarzen Linie auf der Spur". It stands for the process of materials and their functions that are made by hands and feet. People construct streets using machines but especially their hands and feet. In the end of the constructing process people use the same body parts to walk on the street. The Painting shows that use from both perspectives.

Veronika Spleiss (born 1993) is a painter of hidden object canvases with their own philosophical stories. "The viewer seems to get lost in the overabundance of details in her paintings, which are located somewhere between comic and Kandinsky", as Jürgen Moises of the Süddeutsche Zeitung writes. The artist often uses abstract and geometric forms. Her painting palette resembles a rush of colour tones full of expressiveness, which in turn seem reduced within a work of art. With the colour and form described, her artworks show a confusion that makes us aware of the tension and diversity of life between order and chaos. Philosophically, the painter tries to take a look at all perspectives of everyday life. Veronika Spleiss is represented by renowned art galleries such as Galerie Klose, Grüne Zitadelle, singulart, and justBEE. Her "Wimmelbilder" can be found in private collections all over the world: in Japan, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the USA.
