About The Artwork

Geranos is an ancient dance performed in Greece and Delos, known as the Crane Dance. Theseus is said to have performed this dance upon arrival at Delos from Crete. This is the fourth painting in an unexpected series of bird paintings. Mystery is again at the core. The intent is to raise questions. The theme seems to be about a disconnect, a feeling of being out of place, of being in an environment, that may seem vaguely familiar, but not necessarily "natural." There is a story suggested by the open door; journey endings, and new beginnings. If the viewer approaches in silence and wonder then the painting has succeeded.
