Biography Adrey Tsoy, born 9 April 1971 in Murmansk, Russia 1990 – Vuchetich Dnepropetrovsk State School of Arts, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine 1997 – National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Professor N.A.Storozhenko class), Kyiv, Ukraine 1993-1994 – Granada university, Departmnet of Fine Arts, Granada, Spain 2001 – Post-graduate study at National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Professor N.A.Storozhenko class), Kyiv, Ukraine 1995 – Member of Union (League) of Artists of Ukraine 2001 – Senior professor (lecturer) at the Chair of Pictorial Art abd Composition, National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv, Ukraine Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Hungary, France, the Czech Republic, the United States, Russia and a list of other countries — these are all places where Tsoi's works have been shown. I guess the only place where he hasn't exhibited is Asia. «lt would be really interesting to have an exhibit there*, says Andriy. But for now there's the autumn exhibit in the Jordanian Embassy in Ukraine. It all began back in kindergarten. Even then Andriy knew that he would be a painter, and he believes this decision has been the best one of his life. He began painting at the age of five, and playfully, he assures me that this wasa conscious decision. Then came art school, studio work, the Dnipropetrovs'k art college and the Kyiv Art Academy.Andriy tries to make all of his exhibits and his art, original. He works to make both the exhibit and the art a part of a total package. He also has his favorite paintings, those which have changed his very being, and impressed on him the desire to create further. One of them called «Boy with a thorn tree* was painted in Madrid and inspired the series «Kingly Hunting*. After a painting is done, about a half hour goes by before Andriy begins to realize how much the art work is missing. He begins to work on another, trying to say that which cannot be articulated, and create that which has never been conceived. «This is the law of progress. If you liked everything, progress would come to an end*, the artist notes. ...Andriy Tsoi often comes across his works in the most unexpected places. And when this happens they look at him with completely different eyes — the eyes of children who are living their own lives. «Once I see one of my works after a period of time, I remember the feelings I had when I was painting, but there's something new there now, something that makes me uneasy.
