ABOUT THE ARTWORK
We have a pool in the garden which is very popular with our daughter's family when they visit. Our Burmese cat is also their favourite play thing. I imagined my grand-daughter dressed as though she were her mother at the same age (the red swimsuit) and set her on an imaginary plastic folding chair on an imaginary tiled terrace in an imaginary garden.( we have wooden chairs and cream stone paving.) I included the cat rolling as he does when he is relaxed and put him at the base of the chair because such a position would please the little girl. Lines of unpainted canvas are used to articulate the blocks of vehement colour.
