Hali Noel, born in New York, lives and paints at her home in Miami. An early love of art, rooted in a lifetime of diverse influences in the art world, paved way for what has become her “mid-life exploration!” Growing up in New York with an Interior Designer mother and Art Dealer father, collaging and use of mixed media with fabric or tissue paper is truly second nature. A self-taught abstract acrylic painter calls herself an artist with self-adulation. Borrowing breaths and inspiration from such esteemed artists as Monet, Joan Mitchell, and Larry Poons. She has been drawn to the energy and beauty of Emily Kane Kngwarreye, her incredible works as well inspired by her late start in life. “The larger the canvas the better,” directs the beat of the movement, and rhythm of each stroke. “Color is everything,” the excitement of a chosen palette, sometimes dreamt up through the night, is key. Finding that light in a hue that shines through becomes the magic. Experimenting with acrylic paints, mixing them, wiping on/off, rolling, brushing, on cotton canvas or linen is the most exciting language and place of her pure happiness.
