About The Artwork
The surface is a creative source itself. For the „Glutvogel“ I transformed the surface of the meant to be painting – a delicate paper, into a vessel of history by giving it a visual past even before my actual work. The „foundation“ of this art work is created by the marks and traces of my foregoing treatment, a special folding and binding technique combined with water and heat supply. Though its vivid and powerfull appearance it unfolds rather in a process dragging the observer slowly into it. Perfect piece to get lost once in a while. >> The painting is part of the series „feeding Apophenia“. The artwork is on paper mounted on foam board (1,2 cm thick)

Born 1978 in Berlin/Germany, I was raised in a city, divided by a wall and having experienced both sides before and after the fall of the Berlin wall, my art is heavily influenced by the city‘s new-found sense of freedom, a spirit of unlimited possibilities and a feeling of former restrictions rupturing, leading to limitlessness. And that‘s exactly what art is to me, limitlessness, disturbance, feeling. I want people to see what they feel by breaking open familiar images into the abstract to provoke inner emotions. My paintings are expeditions into inner landscapes, creating an echo inside the observer, reflecting a part of their identity.
