About The Artwork
These works started as an accident. In the studio I noticed that warm or cold water had a reaction with acrylic paint. The cold water coagulated with the paint, where as the warm water would separate the paint cresting little beads on the canvas. Through more experimentation I constantly used gauche; this pigment would work its way into the acrylic without being the focal point of the composition. In this piece I use indian ink which took over canvas in stead of mixing in. The reason it's called gormandize, is by the definition of the word; the action of over indulging in finer things.

Chalice Bartsch (Florida, b.1990) received a BFA in painting, winter 2015 from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. Bartsch has exhibited her works in multiple juried exhibitions including Small Works, Gutstein Gallery, Savannah, GA, the Sensory Showcase in Miami, FL at the LMNT Gallery, and the Figure Show at Gallery Twenty Two Charlotte, NC as well as the Evendale Photography, Evendale Cultural Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH. Ms. Bartsch has recently become the owner and director of Unorthodox Studios located in Charlotte, NC. Currently pursuing her career in Expressive Arts Therapy.
