Gradations of Language (Some Twigs) Painting

This oil painting is a re-imagining of a spontaneous 'magical' watercolour; part of an on-going experiment in surrealist and occult techniques for drawing surprising images. I like to think of this image as existing in many potential realities; as an object, a picture of a place imagined, as a projection of a dream-like space, and as a set of symbols with ambiguous and multilayered meaning. I feel like it ties into ideas of simulated reality, perhaps in video game or dream. The 'trees' could also be interpreted as beings or letters of some sort.
