This heavily textured painting was inspired originally by the idea of a necklace made of earth born materials including volcanic lava, and gold. The work then evolved into my sense of movement within geological strata, earth and light.

I've been working as an artist since 1975. I've frequently changed genre as well as painting and drawing I use ceramics, wood and fibre for sculpture, earth for permanent site specific installation, and video for live art performance and 'artist’s moving image'. I also write poetry and create mixed genre works. Whilst my materials and techniques change, me theme of love and relationship remains constant. I'm interested in how we hold and navigate the life-death tension of our existence, how we relate to ourselves, others and all things, and how we understand ourselves; both as separate individuals and interconnected beings. I was born in London UK 1959 of Anglo-Indian-Irish heritage and and I currently live on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Originally raised and educated in New Zealand, Canada, and UK, I incorporate diverse spiritual practices with Moire culture, Native American ritual and craft and Roman Catholic iconography as this all makes sense to me. Currently training for Buddhist ordination my 'Gratitude Mandalas' link closely to my personal spiritual practices of meditation, mindfulness and compassion. It is my hope that my work brings ease and joy to the viewer.
