ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Green Heart is a non objective painting leaving the viewer to create their own experience. The geometric elements create the balance. The heart figure is an organic element that compliments the geometric forms and acts as a focal point to draw the viewer in to the painting. Of course, hearts represent life and love, our struggles and our triumphs. My process to create this piece was to first start with a drawing. I create many drawings on a daily basis. I then review the drawings and select a composition to use as a spring board for a painting. I choose the drawing with compositional elements that I find inspirational. I hope you do too. In my designs, atmosphere and visual poetry are the three most considered pictorial elements used in my abstract acrylic paintings. Landscape and dreamscape themes, with an applied graphic sense, informs my abstract compositions. The borders and compartments in these paintings are rendered with a poetic reverence and an eye for interior design. Color, value and textures also play a carefully thought-out part in the creation of my work. 'Green Heart' is an abstract acrylic painting on unstretched canvas. Unframed, it is suitable for any standard 16x20 inch frame. Painting is shipped rolled up in a tube.

Born in Los Angeles California USA, 1958. My work is collected throughout the United States and Europe. I started doing film animation. I won a few awards for childrens film contests and went on to study animation. From there, I went into painting. I've had several paintings used in movie and television backgrounds for set designs, one example being the film 'Art School Confidential' in 2005. I am a full time artist living in California. I have been drawing and painting ever since I can remember. My work has been exhibited in galleries throughout Southern California -mostly Los Angeles, Long Beach, Laguna Beach and elsewhere. I live on the California coast where the light has a bright clarity and so vivid color is always an important factor in the creation of my paintings. I also love to draw. I work in small, medium and large scales, generally acrylic on canvas and sometimes panel. I like to work in series which have resulted in various subjects, from still-life, landscape and figurative, to abstraction and surrealism -but all with a consistent style and technique that I have developed over the course of many years. I continue to explore layered color harmonies and painterly textures in all my work.
