About The Artwork

Based on a photo freely offered by PennyWohlar Stone on 20th August 2020, I was captivated by the striking contrast between the vibrant Spring Green hues and the somber dark grey of the fallen logs. The process of painting the water in various shades of green added an element of enjoyment to the artwork. In the painting, the lush Spring Green colors beautifully juxtaposed against the weathered and moss-covered fallen logs, creating a visually compelling composition. The interplay of light and shadow highlighted the textures and details, adding depth and dimension to the artwork. The water in different shades of green cascading down the rocks added a dynamic and refreshing element, evoking a sense of tranquility and harmony with nature. The overall painting captured the essence of a serene and picturesque waterfall scene, with the contrasting colors and textures enhancing the visual appeal. The blending of greens and the gentle flow of water allowed me to portray the beauty and vitality of the natural world, showcasing the wonders of the great outdoors. As I painted this scene, I felt a profound connection with nature and its captivating beauty. It was a delightful and fulfilling experience to translate the photographic inspiration into a unique piece of art, and I hope that my painting conveys the sense of wonder and joy that I experienced during the creative process.

I am a self-taught artist who has done the eight levels of the Royal Drawing Society of London at the school level. From childhood, I was fascinated by the play of colours in nature, and I have come to love all its moods and find it an infinite source of happiness. I was fortunate enough to have travelled all across the sub Himalayan region, and forest areas and later on visited the coastal areas of my country as well as those of Australia. As a homemaker, I spent my life in isolated forested areas where my husband worked as a coal mining engineer. Unable to pursue my education in Fine Arts, I tried the difficult frustrating and lengthy process of learning from books and mostly these were the series of books written by Walter Foster. I could only pursue it as a hobby, till the Covid pandemic scare came a couple of years ago, as we were all forced to be cooped up in isolation I returned to my favourite hobby painting and I started putting in six hours daily. I joined the Serb group of Artist Phil Davis and followed the daily prompts to submit a painting and made efforts to project the prompt as landscapes For example the title “treat” was translated into a desert landscape with blooming flowers as “treat for the eyes of the beholder. My inspiration to paint comes from 1. My love for Nature, 2. While being cooped up during the pandemic was the only way to explore and relive moments spent with family. 3. It has garnered a great deal of self-respect as at 75 years of age I can contribute to society. 4. Through sales I may be able to generate enough income to help the needy.
