VIEW IN MY ROOM

Looking for my own style and issue, challenging myself always, I`ve changed direction to the Baroque period. I find it very interesting and still modern. You can express honestly so much emotions in a still life as masters like Meléndez or Zurbarán have done. I wish the viewer can see the effort behind "Green vessel and flowers" , beyond the achievement (or not) of realism and trace, they can see all the range of daily emotions I`ve crossed from fustration till ecstasy, even a mirroring reflection of their own proper soul. In a certain way I consider this painting like a self-portrait. It is the journey`s diary of one year of my life, travelling into the depths of my being, focus in the specific details, shadows, lights, textures, trying to trascend the form through the form.

Born 1974-Barcelona I studied Medicine at Barcelona University and I specialized in General Practicioner in Ibiza island where I live right now. Basically, I am a self-taught painter, my grandfather Rafael has been the only one direct influence about art in my life. He was a dadaist painter in a little town called Manresa, we used to walk the fields drawing and painting landscapes, trees and anything that captured our attention. He did not like to give much advice and the whole process was quite intuitive. We visited churches to watch religious art, for me was something shocking, a mixture of fear and fascination for all those shadows and poorly lit corners, flickering candles, the smell of incense, musty, people praying and bowing their knees, but above all, the images and statues reflecting both pain and grace at the same time. My career taught me a lot: anatomy, body movement, proportion, expressiveness. Dealing with this people I've able to see how we really are, since we are born till we die all the emotions and lessons that entails. I've always loved to travel around the world looking for clues in great nature and archaeological sites, I find it a good way of knowing myself: Mongolia, China, Japan, Tibet, Mali, Perú, Turkey, South Africa, Greece, Lebanon ...etc As an artist I am interested in exploring human nature, our symbols and the original meaning of religions. I try somehow to bring back our connection with life, with "God" if you prefer that term, through a narrative that expresses beauty, even sometimes I do it fiercely. My references in art: Renaissance, and the generation of Francesco Clemente, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Julian Schnabel. I've been writing for years, the literature is a great companion. In 2011 I won a prize for a poetry book with drawings called "Selva" (Jungle), it is a biographic story placed in the bush. Recently I traveled to Florence to learn "affresco" because i would like to use this technique in walls and spaces.
