Painting: Gouache, Oil, Spray Paint, Watercolor on Canvas.
I was inspired to create this work during the first Easter i spent without my parents as my mother had sadly passed away suddenly a few months previous.
The grief i felt was intense and the only way i could ease it was by thinking of the meaning of Easter and by incorporating a symbol of that into the one thing that really gives me joy ..to create.
Hence the name 'Grief Redeemed'.... it did feel that to some extent my grief was of some use if it helped me create.
I didn't make many conscious choices about the mediums used ...i did want intensity and an abstract contemporary image so i guess i chose oils for intensity and gold spray paint for a contemporary 'edge'....
The painting's meaning is ..of course..open to interpretation by the viewer...
