About The Artwork
Halong Bay is part of my new Ha Long Bay series inspired by a recent trip to Vietnam. Ha Long Bay is a famous, UNESCO World Heritage Site in North-Eastern Vietnam. This watery landscape is absolutely sublime. Hundreds of towering limestone islands emerge from the waters of the bay evoking ancient times and long-forgotten memories. These structures are bold, evocative and simply incredible to behold. The experience of cruising through these waters was awe-inspiring. The landscape was continually changing, unfamiliar shapes emerging and receding to create mysterious perspectives. This series of paintings is my expression of that experience, focusing on the light, the reflections, the colours, and the incredible feelings the place created. Ha Long Bay is now etched into my consciousness in a beautiful way and with this series I hope to share that experience with you.

Born in Shrewsbury, UK, Dinah Wakefield is the daughter of the British artist, Larry Wakefield. Dinah has had a lifelong passion for art and design, beginning her career as a textile designer and stylist, before establishing herself as an abstract artist. Dinah lived and worked as an artist in Sydney for over 20 years, developing a reputation for her dramatic abstract landscapes. She has many exhibitions, commissions and corporate representations in her CV. In 2016 she moved to Noosa establishing her studio in the garden of her new home in Peregian Beach. Dinah draws inspiration from the landscape around her, focusing on an abstract expression of colour and form. Her latest works continue the theme of abstract landscapes. They are inspired by the natural beauty of the area and are fluid and organic creating a sense of peace, tranquility and space.
