The work was inspired by an opportunity to work in China. The images are influenced by trips to temples with large drawings painted inside the stone temples. The found object is a toy in the painting and is the hat of a woman. Special hats are worn and are regarded as a living way for them to honor their ancestors'. The subject matter is influenced by culture differences and perspectives. Hats are funny, serious, fashionable and they can express emotions, history, personality. The style of painting is important to me as its physical gesture and emotional expression best describes the idea of humor through how we dress up and why? This hat is an American toy. that's playful and bounces.
