"Haunted Celluloid" Painting

The base of this painting is a thick Pollack-like dripping in several colors, with a smudging of black gesso. I covered over this base with a light coat of white gesso and with graphite I drew a grouping of imperfect rectangles, then I used acrylic black to define the imperfect lines of the rectangles. I applied a second coating of white gesso to intentionally obscure the images and shapes, but then as a contradiction I painted yellow halos around the rectangles to recall attention to them. The painting brings to my mind a found strip of celluloid, perhaps on the floor of what was once an editor's room at a studio.
