About The Artwork

My third painting on canvas from my current horror series. This piece measures 38.5”x 51” + was made with acrylic paint on canvas. This piece marks a significant shift from the first two paintings of this series (see them on my story + on my grid) ?“Haunted” does not take place in a graveyard nor does it feature an obvious slasher villain like the previous paintings. The only visual element easily tied to horror imagery in this painting is the black cat on the upper left side. I wanted this piece to be more internal and moody. Horror is most often + realistically experienced that way (in my opinion). Horror is such a misunderstood genre and is meant to be transgressive, therefore, it becomes difficult to categorize for the casual viewer. Ghost + goblins are not the qualifiers of horror, they are only externalizations of the darkness we already have inside us
