About The Artwork
My husband and I drove out to Salem, NY so he could do some geneology research at the local court house. We drove up Cary Hill, behind Salem Art Works, and the view was just incredible! It was a cloudy day with some breaks of sun, but I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! I just knew I had to capture what I saw in a painting. So I took a photo with my cell phone and went from there. The color palette is a bit different in that I chose to use Pinterest to find a palette that matched the scene. So I chose this Purple/Green palette. I'm not sure I'm a big fan of it, or if I would use it again, but it worked for the time being. I hope the viewer, who might or might not be familiar with Cary Hill in Salem, appreciates that I also included some of the sculptures that can be found on that hill. I am delving into Landscape Painting currently and am enjoying it! My current work is reflective of a looser, more abstract style that is a break from my usual "realistic" style of painting.

As you may see in my Bio page of my website, I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I would spend countless hours lost in a piece of paper with crayons and pencils. As I grew older, I began to develop some real skill. Having been mentored by the late artist George Benedict, I was encouraged to attend art school and so I graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelors Degree in Illustration. I worked during my junior year in college at an art studio and then found myself in Miami where I freelanced for various companies. I now reside in Upstate New York where I continue to paint and draw.
