About The Artwork

"Heliophilia (the love of the sun)" is an original acrylic painting made on a piece of recycled wallpaper. The Artwork is part of the "Glitterati" collection, the name of the wallpaper on which the painting has been created. The artist works with textured wallpaper as an original way of adding interests, details and depth to her paintings. A combination of oranges, reds, browns and touches of gold gives warmth to the painting. The artist worked with the texture of the paper to achieved a "wooden effect" in the background. The knife stokes are bold and geometrical. Details of textured raised paint where colours interlace and catch light add interest to the Artwork. This Artwork is hand signed and dated at the back and comes with a certificate of authenticity. A black frame with a white cardboard mount complement the Artwork. Ready to hang. When I start a painting, I have no preconception of what it is going to look like at the end. Each painting develops through a spontaneous flow between the paint and myself. I am translating my emotions and feelings onto the canvas without the distraction of a thought process. My work is more instinct rather than intellect. The result can be representational and/or abstract, often somewhere in between. Texture is the essence of my work. Texture brings life to a painting, catches light and at the same time catches the viewer’s imagination and takes him on a journey of his own. I use knifes, spreading tools, grit, sand and stones in all my compositions to create contrasting texture and unique focal points. I also love colours and the infinite possibilities of interlacing them in a single stroke. I use vibrant acrylic paints straight from the bottle and mix them with my strokes on the canvas rather than on my palette. The revealing is always a surprise, embracing the happy accidents along the way. In a world where resources are getting scarce, I try to use material that are readily available to me rather than buying new ones. I want to reuse rather than consume. For example, my “Gliterrati” and “Blue Navy Trellis” collections were created on beautiful textured wallpaper leftover from redecoration works. I am thrilled to have been able to give them a purpose again. Born in France, I studied art in secondary school along with sciences. After graduating from an agribusiness and environment school in France, I moved to Italy and then to the UK in 2001 where I run a marketing company specialised in import of organic goods. Mother of 4 children, I now dedicate my time to my family and along with it my art, turning a passion into a career. I am so privileged to be able to do that and I love to share it.
