About The Artwork

I listened to this song by Nirvana which actually is a Velvet Underground song and is the name of the title while I painted this. It just sort of happened...This one is hard to explain without being alarmingly honest. Out of nowhere this work came out of me. I found myself going back and forth thrashing at what is the background. The person in the painting is myself. I had an incredible overwhelming feeling that my head was full of information. That I were to be soon busting at the seems. I scratched and did all I to get it out of my head but I ended up droping out prematurely. But I never cleaned up my paint brush when I painted this it all. I continuessly got darker and darker into the bottom left corner and finally to the mouth that howls from the mental pain. I like to thing this parallels the idea that I couldn't let go of anything and I had to keep everything in my head. I constantly try to remember but I realize the only reason I can't remember anything is because I try to remember everything. It hurts to lose everything.

My maniera I like to think I have my own style of art going on. Although there isn't much movement as of yet because I've still not gotten much exposure to the world. I dream of being in the art history books and hope to cause some kind of stir amongst the people because of my art. I like to follow my own rules and I'm not afraid to be controversial to get my point across. I like to tell a story with my art, giving it meaning, and giving it life. I like to be able to show the viewer things they couldn't normally see with the eye..with the eye. Whether it be turbulent winds and waters, light, or perhaps even a dream or whatever it is I try to illuminate. I want you to understand my art but I make you question it anyways. I give you time to follow my brush strokes and empathize with what you find on this journey of the life that I'm painting. I want to recycle with my art as well and perhaps try and influence more people to not just paint on the finest canvas but prove to them that you can make excellent work on some beat up board you find, or a peice of glass, or mirror, or a rock, literally anything. I'm a bit of a scientist in that I like to experiment as with the new media and what I mix paint, I've been known to mix weird things with my paint like flour, eggs, vascaline, spit, blood, essential oils, and many other things you probably wouldn't expect. I have experience in media's including acrylic paint, water color, pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, ceramics, I've cast metal once, and I have loads of hours put in in the studio. I have had the privilege of having some incredibly good teachers throughout my high school, without them I wouldn't be where I am now. They taught me an insane amount about the history of art, painting, drawing, ceramics, reliefs, I've even done some metal and wood working. As well overloading myself on my own with influences like Da Vinci, Van Gogh, and David Choe, but of course there are many many others. If I'm being perfectly honest with the world, I'm a college drop out who just wants to make a living doing what I love. I had a change of heart in college that ended up putting me in great debt and now I have to do what I can to earn the $36,000 that I spent just to find out that I want to be an artist instead. But atleast I'm not wasting my time and forcing myself to do anything anymore.
