About The Artwork

GROW UP (Heritage, folders and Childhood) One is aware of what has changed when facing the same object or situation their reaction is different. One day, visiting my grandmother, I met those porcelain figurines that every grandmother has on a shelf in her house. These figurines had always seemed really ugly and I had never understood why at some point people became interested in them. But it was on this visit when my gaze changed and suddenly I discovered myself appreciating them differently. The funny thing is that I was able to remember my feeling of rejection towards them, that is, I was aware of "me" that was no longer that of the present and that made me more aware of my changes and somehow of my current self. From this little anecdote, I created GROW UP, where through 3 works “Childhood” “Folder” and “Herencias” "HERENCIAS" (heritage) is the series that I present to you and consists of a series of paintings, where I represent the figurines of my grandmother's house through that new look that described at the beginning of the text, that other vision of things through maturity . In these pieces a universe emerges through a subtle juxtaposition of languages at the service of an iconography in which the recreated and glued objects serve as a fetish to build and reconstruct meanings around the living and the lived. Birth of the classic ceramic figurines, representing them from my language, a more urban language and to put it in some way, more current and placing them on a background where several green guides graph what would be "the memory space".

artista multidisciplinal. Statement: From my own experience of attachment towards my possessions , I started Investigate about the links develop people with the objects around us , the need to retain and limits between possession and obsession. I am interested in mainly the limit between what is considered normal and diseased , reconsidering the parameters that define that things. From this personal experience , I was treating this issue in a more general way , focusing especially on everyday acts related to different forms and patterns of accumulation , from Conservation International as souvenirs to collectibles . I also interested in the spaces dedicated to the act of accumulating like The attics , storage rooms , cabinets, etc . The type of objects preserved there and how these objects behave in different spaces . The attachment, Accumulation , Vacuum Fear , Obsession and memory are key words in my work .
