Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Ink on Paper.

Baselitz's work is about as primitive as it gets. Hacked wood and simplistic painting. I came across Baselitz in a magazine in the early 1980's. I thought back then that painting upside down was possibly a novelty factor. I later wrote a paper on him at college and the upside down seemed to make more sense. His work is about as primitive as a caveman so the further distance he gets away from the subject matter the more successful the painting hence the work being made upside down. Baselitz works from a castle and maybe bats hanging around influenced him also.
