About The Artwork

Work title: Hoch hinaus im Nebel I ("High up in the fog I") Signature: Julio Fernandez 2019 Measurements: 60 x 120 x 2,3 cm Technique: Acrylic painting Material: acrylic on canvas, ready to hang (on stretcher frame) Worldwide delivery incl. certificate of authenticity My early works, which I created under the pseudonym Julio Fernandez, were clearly inspired by Jackson Pollock, although these paintings are merely guided by the basic idea of abstract expressionism. The symbiosis of colour, structure and material was (and still is) of primary importance, which, independent of the motif, fundamentally manifests respective ambitions and feelings. Thus the Pollock-based dripping technique found its way into my work mostly only as a finishing accentuation and is hardly present in my current works. After a longer creative phase, which was characterized in particular by bold colors and surrealistic-looking compositions of forms, I have been dissolving the formerly clearly concrete lines more and more for some years now and concentrate more on the depth effect of my art. The results are paintings that are not always immediately accessible to the viewer and create an exciting depth without completely abandoning the reference to the fundamentally intended aesthetics.

In his works, the artist deals in particular with the impressions of his travels, which lead him together with his wife around the whole world. Focal points are among others landscape abstractions, lost cultures as well as the confrontation with the consequences of human action. The paint serves as a means of expression, which enables him to visualize the processed themes both in one and three dimensions. "The predominantly abstract works of the Dresden artist Andreas Garbe impress the viewer with their sure colour aesthetics, stylistic independence and, last but not least, their craftsmanship.Whether captivating liveliness, almost magical calm or refreshing lightness - Andreas Garbe masters the expressiveness of the colours, lets them shine powerfully from their deepest interior and has thus found the answer to a question that the painter has always had to face. But Andres Garbe is also one of those who are in search, in search of the possibilities of the artistic realization of the experienced and learned. His themes range from history to the present: under the impression of his travels, he brings the mythologies of different cultures to life, tells in his works of impressive experiences of nature or, last but not least, reflects on the eternal and interpersonal. A demanding approach that challenges the intellectual as well as the sensitive viewer and which Andreas Garbe himself faces with great seriousness" Petra Klein, September 2009 In order to allow his artistic expression more scope for freedom and to be able to experiment in a more varied way, Garbe signs certain works with Julio Fernandez or Raphael König.
