HOPE Painting

Inspired by the Bible story. "HOPE" is #3 of 3 in a series depicting the Bible story. New Testament. Judges and conflict Judges rule the Israelites. Constant conflict. Samson destroying the temple of the Philistines. Divided kingdom The split in the crown symbolises the kingdom being rendered in two. The inverse perspective shows the city pulling apart. Captivity The Israelites dejected, being led away to captivity by the Babylonians. The Ark of the Covenant being carried off. The rivers of Babylon flow down to the central picture of the manger. The birth of Jesus Jesus in the manger with His mother Mary, Joseph, the animals and the new star in the heavens. Note the lamb looking toward the Lamb on the cross. The last supper Jesus with the disciples partaking of the bread and wine prior to Jesus telling the betrayer to go and do his evil work. A purse with the 30 pieces of silver is under the table. Crucifixion Our Lord crucified. His body broken and His blood spilled. A centurion stands by. The serpent slithers away his head flattened by Christs foot. Ascension Mary Magdalene discovers the empty tomb. The heavy rock having been moved away. Christs’ clothes are found neatly folded in the tomb. Jesus ascends to heaven and descends to earth depicted by the whispers of angelic clouds.
