This painting was inspired by the late poet John O'Donohue. His thoughts on beauty and how landscapes affect us. This painting is a reflection on the eternal meeting of sky and rock, rock and water, sky and water. We contain these landscapes within us, what horizon are you journeying toward?

My current work is driven by my interest in the restorative power of beauty and how it is perceived. I am asking the question: Does the world embody beautiful ideas? What is symmetry, what is the memory of a beautiful feeling, how does that relate to mortality and anxiety? My work is by no means an answer but an exploration of the questions. within my compositions you will find a variety of abstracted natural elements because we contain horizons, storms, gardens, vacant buildings, flowers, animals and faces and new beginnings within us. When we honour them we can come into rhythm in our own lives. Nature is my cathedral, it is where I find inspiration. Synnöve was born in Toronto, Canada and has lived in rural Ontario, British Columbia and currently lives in Montreal Quebec.
