Hunting Season Painting

Jess Wright's work evokes the contradictions inherent to modern life via compositions infused with dichotomy ⸺ soft & sharp, casual & formal, playful & solemn ⸺ a push and pull whose depiction calls attention to the liminal spaces that usually go ignored; these spaces are *the layers between* the moments that our brains are able to tease out into memories. Wright returns to themes of nostalgia, Americana, and our infatuation with consumption; works in mixed media, painting, and sculpture. Her favorite place to be is at the ocean.
