About The Artwork

Which child or grownup hasn't once picked up a shell in order to listen to the sound of the ocean within? This painting is a playful representation of that appreciation for one of nature's little whims.

Michael Wiebach is a Mexican-German visual artist who is best known for his simultaneous combination of painting, installation art and short films. Using representational objects such as old toys, industrial junk and other obsolete gadgets, he creates elaborate installations and art objects. At the same time, these objects are often the themes rendered on many of his oil canvases. Through his work, Michael Wiebach practices a certain form of modern archeology, through which modern technology is seen from the margin of its own waste.
