I love the pop-art creations of Roy Lichtenstein from the mid-20th century. This is my own re-imagination of several Lichtenstein works from the 1960s. I created this painting directly on the surface of a vintage industrial silkscreen frame that I have used for years in my studio to create other artworks. These old wood & silk frames have been used hundreds of times by me to create other artworks. I love the texture and history of these surfaces to create new paintings upon when I have the chance. There is a palpable sense of use and history to these pieces, which have really lived many artistic lives over the decades. I prefer creating paintings on these old screens over painting on new, white canvas or paper because the thread of history in the surface really adds something to the final work. The surface has texture and the wooden sides of the surface allow this piece to hang quite nicely without framing. It has it's own built-in frame! Hanging hardware is attached to the back and it is ready to go. I hope you will find this artwork an amusing and bright addition to your collection. Artwork is guaranteed to be shipped in accordance with the highest standards, so that your shipment is as safe as possible while traveling from my studio to your museum, gallery, hotel, business or home. Your oil, enamel and silkscreen painting on canvas or vintage screen frame will be sent protected by glassine paper and bubble wrap in a thick high quality box. · Acid-free archival quality glassine paper cover · Two layers of bubble wrap and secure with tape · Cardboard protectors to each corner of the oil painting · Sheets of Foam boards for larger paintings · A sturdy cardboard box marked as "Fragile"

As a contemporary artist Taylor Smith explores social awareness through abstraction and figuration with elements of science, traditional still life and portraiture. Smith uses a wide variety of materials and mediums including reclaimed silkscreen frames, discarded analog technology, luxury brands and commercial packaging. She also incorporates mathematics, organic chemistry, mechanics and photography into her work. Frequently working with 8mm film and other analog film mediums, Smith blends the practice of filmmaking and painting. Her recent work explores the relationship between pop culture, luxury brands, political upheaval and crisis to create an unexpected and transformative experience.
