ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This little bear represents a blend of audacity and innocence, along with the sharp eyes of all children, including mine and my younger self, who seem unaware but are actually observing everything closely and keenly. 'Three Colours +' painting series 03 (Created in 2019). Acrylic on canvas. 30 x 30 x 4cm. This painting series, created using black, gold, and white as main colour, and sometimes with additional background colour, captures the essence of my inner world and philosophy I gathered over a lifetime. Yoshie Allan is a Japanese-born, UK-based visual artist and illustrator known for her self-taught, mixed media approach inspired by nature’s contrasts and her upbringing in Fukushima. Originally studying veterinary science, she later pursued fashion design at Esmod Japon in Tokyo before transitioning to the apparel industry. Since 2006, Yoshie has created works ranging from picture books to bespoke designs and launched the acclaimed Hide & Seek in Dreamscape series, featured in Seibu-Sogo Department Store's 2024 Autumn campaign across Japan. Her recent works, blending fabric, stitching, and paint, bring playfulness and introspective themes to life, engaging viewers through exhibitions and workshops in the UK, Japan, and beyond.
