About The Artwork

‘I’m Content And I Don’t Know What To Do With It’ is part of the Alexithymia series, which explores thoughts, sensations, feelings, behaviors, concerns, and obsessions. It is the search for the recognition of emotions and their expression, non-verbally, through shapes, semi-calligraphic strokes, colors and textures. The works are executed on paper, and in them I play with negative spaces using materials such as acrylics, watercolors, pastels, markers, makeup, tea stains, scraps of paper and fabric, among other things. It is a visual cacophony that I intend to make sense of. Mixed media on 260 gram Bristol paper (includes watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, markers, makeup, tea stains, découpage with suede and velvet)

Armando Guillén Moreno was born in Panama City on October 1st, 1990 and is a visual artist and lawyer. With a deep interest in the arts and being self-taught, he began painting steadily in his adolescence, first focusing on the oil technique and then on acrylic and mixed media, nurturing his knowledge by reading books and essays on Art History and Art Appreciation. He currently develops his artistic work with a reductionist approach, taking as a starting point the analysis of complex ideas, keeping only the essentials, and forming his color palette and compositions from these elements. Passionate about abstraction, his language comprises fields of flat colors, strokes, stains and scribbles painted to find rhythm in color contrasts and the use of negative space in the composition.
