About The Artwork
This is from a body of work created at the beginning of 2023. There are 8 in this series and each painting completes another line to a poem written to myself. The poem was not pre-written, but as each painting was completed a new line was born. The subject matter is a piece of dichroic film. The film is manipulated and then photographed. The same piece of film was used for each painting, but the outcome, depending solely upon the light and structure, becomes a completely unique composition. This work is talking about the discomfort and pain in transformation, the grief of leaving behind something that we loved and knew in order to become the person we were meant to be.
