About The Artwork

This is a painting of the microprocessor Intel 4001 (i4004). I painted it because in retrospect, we know that it’s released marked the dawn of a new era, that of personal computers. This 4-bit central processing unit (CPU) was the first commercially produced microprocessor. It was released by Intel Corporation in 1971. It is painted on a page from a crumpled IKEA manual from 1991. Painting started on 2nd of May 2023, and considered completed in January 2023. Later in 2022 I made a larger painting inspired by this one. Details: Size: W 25 cm, H 19 cm (approximately A4, or US letter size) Materials: acrylic on paper. ID: 2023-001-building-i4004-a4 Personal note: The manual I painted on came with was the first furniture I bought. Coincidentally, I am born the same year as the i4004 was released.
