This work is inspired by Greek mythology and the tragic theme of Icarus' failure. According to the legend, the wings out of wax and feathers were fashioned by father of Icarus. He warned his son not to fly too close to the sun because it can melt the wax. But Icarus took the risk and his wings were melted down, he fell into the sea and drowned. This artwork is about that moment of Icarus' flight when he was very high, wanting to feel the taste of life , but the sun has alreday started melting down his wings. This moment is about emotional impulse, about ambitions that often ruin our life. Do we ever feel enough? Or do we, just like Icarus, try to fly higher and higher relying on our emotions and desires? How often willing to get more and more pleasures makes us forget about being rational? Ambitions and emotions are good but we don't want them to take control of our lives, do we? The artwork is signed on both sides and goes with the certificate of authenticity. The painting is mounted on a wooden frame and is ready to hang on the wall.
