ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Regarding the painting creation - Painting style: A few years ago I developed a method for the creation of my art. I call it the “stretching technique”. This method allows me to create a plastic and 3D structure even on a two-dimensional canvas. In order to do so I coat a canvas with a mixture of river sand, chalk and binding agents. Afterwards I form a figurative universe with different spatulas and quills. Depending on how much of the mixture remains on the canvas, stretches and arches are created during the drying process. The painting becomes relief-like, develops depth and gains sculptural qualities. Now it is flipped and the final color coat is applied to the untreated canvas. This painted side becomes the paining. Although the sand and chalk mixture disappeared, it remains visible by shaping the painting. This approach creates the unique haptic quality of my paintings.
