Indigo Island Painting

This work is painted with acrylic on cradled wood panel, it is ready to hang with framing wire attached with d-rings. I use professional grade acrylics and the painting has been varnished with a gloss varnish. In the summers, I enjoy painting in watercolour on the beach. But in my studio I paint new larger works of art in acrylic. This particular one is inspired by one of the watercolours I did of Margaree Island in Cape Breton while spending time in Dunvegan in the summer of 2020. I am hoping viewers are intrigued by the directness and boldness of the image. I hope they find it playful, enjoy the colour palette and feel like they are at the beach even in its abstraction. Working is this style allows me to explore colour and shape, as well as the patterning and motion of the sea. Living in Nova Scotia and near the ocean, I am often inspired by its beauty.
