My work contemplates the phenomena of beauty and the grotesque. This is achieved through the heavy distortion of the human body, the subconscious, and learned visual cues associated with “the other” and “beauty.” These paintings and sculptures are removed from the context of our own comfort and exist in between a state that is recognizable yet foreign from our own reality. This series deals with the fantasy and the morality of the human condition through tropes of disability, sexuality and fear of the unknown.
