About The Artwork

Along with Puerta de Malaga Puerta de Granada is the second main gate that led in and out of the city, nothing remains of what is captured in this scene, although the steep incline portrayed still bares heavy on the knees. The painting not only shows how the gate may have appeared but also the demolition of a Mosque ( the city had four ) that once greeted the traveller when entering the city through this gate.
