Ivana Živić is certainly not an ordinary painter of realistic motifs. She is different from everyone else, one of the most original artists, because she does not use common solutions of new realists. She does not paint hyperrealistically; she has her own expression, she does not research expanded scenes and human heads, the, conditionally speaking, favorite large format portrait art today, which could be understood as the landscape of the human body and face. Instead, she composes complex wholes, very requesting oil paintings in terms of solving the frog perspective, body shortening and distortion, optically conditioned by the refraction of the scene in water. Her artistic world appears realistic at first glance, but, in terms of ideas and conceptually, it is dislocated to completely unreal environments, the picture is drowned into an aquatic atmosphere and the bodies sunken into a water labyrinth. Dejan Đorić, art critic “Seal. The journal of free Serbia”, no. 553, January 18, Belgrade 2019, out on Fridays, most widely distributed Serbian weekly, pages 68-69 Exhibition of Ivana Živić’s works in the “NLB Bank” Gallery Painting Lucid Dream, was created in the following way. Parts of photos printed on paper I glued, from the printed side, to the canvas. As an adhesive I used an acrylic binder that I applied with a brush. When it dries, on the next day, I remove the paper manually by rubbing it. In this process, since the adhesive is not all over the same, some parts go out and some remain. Then I paint the image with UV acrylic lacquer. On such a background, I continue to paint with oily colors. I deliberately leave damages and connections as part of the art game.I use an original natural canvas for painting with painting preparation. I'm always doing UV protection. The obtained result is a technologically good basis for painting.
