Ipanema Painting

Original painting of the Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Acrylic Gallery wrapped heavy-duty canvas with 1.5in wood frame profile. Canvas sides painted white. Painting size: 30x40x 1.5in My original paintings are signed in the front and back. In my work, first I draw freely and loosely the subject of my paintings. After that, I let my feelings guide me while I put color inside the lines, one after the other without any real commitment to reality. Just letting the energy flow and the painting tell me what it wants to be. Ipanema beach in Brazil, (the country where I was born) is one of our most famous beaches, full of beautiful people exercising, playing volleyball, laying on the sun. Where you can order your "caipirinha" and our typical grilled corn in the cob on the beach and enjoy it (preferably while listening to "The Girl from Ipanema" from Tom Jobim). :) In my series around cities, the real subject for me is the people that are there very loosely represented by little dots and forms, but that are the real creators of the place. Without people, our cities, monuments, and buildings are cold and lifeless. It’s the energy of the place that I try to paint. As I love to invite the audience in a painting, the door each one opens is unique and based on our own sensibility, life experience, and dreams.
