This oil on canvas painting is framed in a quality Oak wood frame. “It Vanished through Here’ is a painting about the mystery of the sea. What is out there? What’s in there? Who lives inside? This artwork is inspired by recent scuba dives in the Great Barrier Reef in 2019. In this latest series UNDERCURRENT I’m really enjoying focusing on the amorphous and fluid shapes and lines of the coral underwater, aiming to convey the shifting light through the ocean, and the texture of the coral. I have spent a lot of time diving in the past decade. I am fascinated with the shadows and light, the dark mystery of the deep or the inside of a cave; while the swirling fish, moving coral tentacles in the ocean currents, and the shimmering movement of sea life all make for a perfect series. This painting seeks to convey the mood and spirit of the reef, of how I feel when I’m diving and the magic and mystery of the ocean. I am a Sydney based artist with a deep affinity with the land and ocean. I live and work near Manly beach and have been painting professionally for over 27 years. I paint most days in a large warehouse where I also sell my artworks to the public, corporate and interior designers. I travel extensively to experience and sketch in remote areas throughout Australia & overseas when I can. My works are expressions of my experiences and what I feel and see while being at one in nature - above or below the sea. I started my meditation journey when I was nineteen and I love to be in connection with the land and sea. I seek to understand what lies beneath the observable, reflecting the ebb and flow of nature with its delicacy & strength, mysteries & contrasts. This is what I love to create and what I would like the viewer to feel - that feeling of expansiveness and unity while being out in the middle of nowhere or deep down by the edge of a coral reef wall in the middle of the ocean. I hope we keep our amazing Australian reefs safe and protected and do all we can do to allow them to flourish.

I am a Sydney based artist with a deep affinity to the land and ocean. Every day before my studio practice I have a long early morning walk either on the beach or through bushland and national parks. I find calm and creative inspiration in wide open places or under the sea. My connection with the land becomes an inward journey, where memory and creative process reshape the external experience, allowing the paint, memory and inner vision to spontaneously create new colours, textures, shapes and lines in the “inner landscape” that then evolves. I have spent a lot of time scuba diving coral reefs with pelagics of the ocean, and travel extensively to experience and sketch in remote areas throughout Australia & overseas. I have many different series, I like mixing it up, and experiment to find new styles that I enjoy painting. I would be bored otherwise and I like the challenge to create something unique and spontaneous. My paintings are a response to memory and the calming connected experience I have being on land. I have created mixed-media works on canvas and paper aiming for inspiring, bold and playful artworks. I hope you enjoy them!!
